Well Known to God

You are well known to God, whether you know Him or not.

In my quiet time with the Lord this morning I read from my one year Bible, (given to me by my best friend Carol Dozler, on Christmas 1998). It has blessed and enriched my life for twenty one years. Thank you Carol, and thank you Lord for Your life transforming and affirming Word.

Today’s reading was September 1st, which included passages from the book of Job, 2 Corinthians, and Psalm 45.

When I read the Bible I pray and ask God to speak to me, teach me and show me what I need for the day. As I read, certain verses really stand out to me and impress upon me the need to pay close attention. I end up highlighting and or underlining those verses and ask God to help me live it out. I also feel compelled to share those verses with others because that is what God calls us to do.

So, here’s what stood out to me today. I pray you are encouraged by the love of God and inspired to live for Him because He created you to do so.

From Job: God can do everything.

God can do everything, tells me that I have nothing to worry about ever, and that I should never question anything that is happening in my life because God is in control. That gives me peace.

From 2 Corinthians: We are well known to God.

We should no longer live for ourselves, but live for Christ, who died and rose again for us.

All things are of God.

God has given us the ministry of reconciliation, and we are ambassadors for Christ, called to implore people to be reconciled to God.

Being well known to God, reaffirms to me how much God loves me and makes me love Him even more. The apostle Paul who wrote the letters to the Corinthians also says; the love of Christ compels us, and it does compel me. He goes on to say that Christ died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. That’s what I want to do. Live for Christ and proclaim His truth to the world. Paul also says that Jesus has given us the ministry of reconciliation, and that we are ambassadors for Christ. Again, this speaks to my heart and affirms my calling because that is what I am compelled to do. Because of God’s lavish love for me, I want to share His love and resurrection power to reconcile even the most broken and seemingly hopeless relationships to wholeness and oneness. I am compelled to say to everyone who will listen, “Be reconciled to God.” He is the reason you live and breathe and only through Him can you have, maintain and restore healthy relationships.

From Psalm 45: My heart is overflowing with a good theme… (I think you know what that is;)

Because He is your (my) Lord, worship Him.

Because Jesus is our Lord, we should worship Him, and I do. We were created to worship. We were created to worship God. If we don’t worship Him then we will end up worshipping other things or people; career, money, romance, sex, stuff, etc. I purpose to worship Jesus everyday in everything I do, because He is worthy and He is who gives me peace, purpose, contentment and joy, no matter what is happening in my life.

I hope this encourages you and helps you to realize your need for God, and the truth of the fact that there is no life, or love better than Christ’s.

With much love and blessings for abundant life in Christ,

Mara Petro
