“You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.” James 2:19
I’m intrigued by this verse. It tells me that there’s more to belief in God than just believing. Look at that verse again… It says that the demons believe and even tremble, but do demons worship God? Do the demons love God, do they serve God? No, they do not, quite the opposite in fact. The devil and his demons are absolutely opposed to God and they know that in the end, they lose. In the meantime they are continually wreaking havoc on earth, trying to destroy God's redemptive work in our lives by trying to keep us from a loving relationship with Him and with others, and by putting us in all kinds of bondage. So there's got to be more to believing in God than just believing.
According to the Bible our belief and faith in God is demonstrated by how we live. The Bible says we are created by God for a purpose and that purpose is to love the Lord our God with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourselves. We are invited to believe in and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and we are called to worship and trust Him in all our ways. We are called to seek God and His righteousness. We are called to love one another, even our enemy. We are called to tell others about God and His amazing grace and love.
So, if you say you believe in God that's good, but do you worship Him? Do you obey His word? Do love Him, do you serve Him, and do you love the people He puts in your life? If not then your religion is in vain, and a futile waste of your time and a waste of your life, and you will never be transformed, you will never know unconditional love, you will never have peace that passes understanding, or hope against all hope, or joy in midst of pain, and you will never know what it means to be truly free.
Jesus says:"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me." ~John 14:1
